Outdoor Fun in Indiana: 2016 November Runs/Walks

fall races in IndianaEven though we’re all about keeping you and your family warm this fall, there are plenty of reasons to be outdoors in central Indiana – especially in November. If you and your family like to be active while donating to good causes, a fun run or walk might be just what you have in mind. Here are some of the scheduled races in the area.

Frosty Paws Run/Walk

Nov. 19, 10 a.m., Noblesville
The Frosty Paws 5K is “more of a fun run/walk than a serious run.” The course starts and finishes at Forest Park in Noblesville.  The entire route is paved inside the park, and very safe for kids and dogs. The event will also have several dog-related activities and booths.  Enjoy browsing around with your best-friend. All human runners/walkers receive a t-shirt, personalized race-bib, and a medal. There will be doggy-swag too.

Outback Scramble

Nov. 19, 9:30 a.m., Eagle Creek, Indianapolis
The Outback Scramble is a wacky, rugged 5k cross-country course at Eagle’s Crest, located just north of Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. Participants should expect to be muddy by the time they cross the finish line! This event supports Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.

Bolt for the Heart

Nov. 24, 9 a.m. Carmel
This 5k run/walk is located at the Palladium Center Green, with all proceeds going toward buying AEDs for Indiana State Trooper Patrol cars. Participants will receive a t-shirt and a Finisher Medal, complete with flashing LED and sublimated ribbon. This even is described as a “unique racing experience with your friends and family on the road, on the trail or a little of both.”

Drumstick Dash

Nov 24, 9 a.m., Broad Ripple
 This will be the 14th annual Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash, with proceeds providing meals and care for homeless men, women, and children in the community. There is a 4.5 Mile and 2.75 Mile Start, followed by the Lil’ Gobbler’s Run at 10:15 a.m.

YMCA Wishbone 5k

Nov. 24, 8 a.m., Fishers
The 5k run and walk will begin at 8 a.m. at the Fishers YMCA. The Youth Fun Run starts at 9:15 a.m., and the course will go through Mudsocks. Registration for the Youth Fun run is free with a food donation. Proceeds from this race will benefit the “Y for All” campaign to help all people participate in camps and programs at the YMCA.

Fit Livin’ Thanksgiving Day Run

Nov. 24, 8 a.m., Noblesville
 This run supports Hemophilia of Indiana, which serves over 1,400 Indiana patients and families affected by hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. Proceeds from the event will support programs and services, including youth programs, support groups, emergency financial assistance, education, advocacy, and awareness initiatives.

Gobbler’s Jog

Nov. 24, 8 a.m., Fishers
This 5K run/walk will runs through Saxony residential, and corporate area. There will random drawings for awards throughout the morning, including a bicycle from Motion Cycling. Gift cards and other merchandise will be raffled off, with all participants are eligible to win.
